Hot Toys Armors Exhibition Tour
To celebrate the impending release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Hot Toys will be hosting an exhibition tour showcasing their latest collectibles from the movie. Simply titled “Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron Exhibition,” it will be set up in eight Asian cities from April to July.
As the name implies, the exhibit is devoted to Hot Toys’ line of Age of Ultron figurines. It’s a big treat as fans can ogle to their hearts content all the latest Avengers collectibles and marvel at the details and likeness to the film’s stars. Hot Toys will also attempt to answer the age-old question of whether or not they can recreate their masterpieces on a larger scale by featuring life-size renditions of these characters. Based on the sneak peeks the company has sent out, it looks like they can. The photos released by the company showed artists working on numerous Hulkbusters and Iron Man armors, further whetting the appetites of fanboys and fangirls.
Gawking at the details on the Avengers figurines isn’t the only thing that fans can do at the exhibition. Fans who can tear themselves away can visit the Pop-Up store that will be opened during the event. Visitors will be able to buy Avengers collectible figurines and other Avengers-themed products there. As an added treat, Hot Toys is also offering an exclusive Iron Man Mark VII Stealth Mode collectible that’s only available for purchase during the tour.
This 1/6th scale figure of the Iron Man Stealth Mode armor is a crisp repaint of the suit Tony Stark wore in The Avengers. Instead of the well-recognized red and gold, the Stealth Mode armor is done in a metallic and matte black color with camouflage highlights. Special features include a detachable and translucent chest piece, shoulder-mounted weaponry, wrist rockets and articulated flaps.
The Age of Ultron tour kicked off on April 3 at Hong Kong’s Hysan Place. Lucky fans who went to the “Team Up at Hysan Place & Lee Theatre Powered by Hot Toys” exhibit were treated to the first ever outing of a life-size display of Hulk going against Iron Man’s Hulkbuster. The 4m tall figures were positioned by the entrance of Hysan Place while a 3.3m tall Hulkbuster statue is displayed outside the Lee Theatre. Fans were also treated to life-sized replicas of the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man Mark XLIII and Ultron Prime. The exhibit also gave people a first glimpse of War Machine, as well as a special diorama showing one of the movie’s most exciting scenes – the showdown between Hulk and the Hulkbuster. Smaller scale figurines of the Hulk, Ultron Prime, Ultron Sentry, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor and an exhibition exclusive Iron Man Mark VII Stealth Armor are also on display. There are also reports that life-size figures of Captain America and Thor will soon be added. Hong Kong fans only have until May 10 to enjoy this unique exhibit.
